PepsiCo schedules 184 permanent job cuts from November 15

PepsiCo has scheduled 184 permanent job cuts at its Tulsa, Oklahoma, warehouse facility, with employee separations expected to begin on or about November 15, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the state.

According to the WARN notice, the layoffs will affect approximately all warehouse employees at the site. While the warehouse workforce will be reduced, the company said the rest of its Tulsa production facility will remain operational.

Warehouse workforce to be affected

The WARN filing, first reported by FOX23 News Tulsa, states that the facility currently employs 184 warehouse workers, all of whom are expected to be impacted by the planned workforce reduction.

The company said the layoffs are permanent.

The filing was made under the federal WARN Act, which generally requires employers to provide at least 60 days' advance notice before a mass layoff or plant closure affecting 50 or more employees.

The advance notice allows state workforce agencies to begin providing career transition assistance, employment services and training support to workers before their employment ends.

According to the filing, the planned separation date meets the notice period required under the legislation.

Company offers redeployment opportunities

PepsiCo said it is working to support affected employees during the transition.

According to the WARN notice, the company is providing information on available vacancies and is actively seeking to place impacted employees in roles within the Tulsa production facility or at nearby PepsiCo locations where opportunities exist.

The company also confirmed employees will continue to receive wages and benefits through their final day of employment.

Retirement and group insurance benefits will continue to be administered in accordance with the terms of the company's employee benefit plans.

Production operations remain unchanged

While warehouse operations are being restructured, PepsiCo said the wider manufacturing operation in Tulsa will remain open.

The company operates the facility near Interstate 44 and U.S. Highway 75 in Tulsa.

The planned layoffs affect only the warehouse workforce identified in the WARN filing and do not indicate a closure of the production facility.

With the layoffs scheduled to begin in mid-November, Oklahoma's workforce agencies are expected to work with affected employees on re-employment and career transition support as the statutory notice period progresses.
